Len Norris (1913-1997)
Len Norris was probably the most beloved editorial cartoonist ever to grace the Canadian newspaper pages with his umbrella-toting Victorians and Vancouverites. I used to read his daily cartoons while a lad delivering the Vancouver Sun in the Kootenays. He also could be counted on for an annual collection of works. He was born in London, England on December 1, 1913. After attending the Ontario College of Art he worked in advertising before becoming art director for Maclean-Hunter Publishing in 1946. He moved to the west coast and drew editorial cartoons for the Vancouver Sun from 1950 t0 1988. He died August 12, 1997 aged 83.
